Tikka T3 factory Scope Rings- Will they be okay?
« on: August 28, 2008, 05:41:08 PM »
Hi All,

I just picked up a Tikka T3 in .270.  I had a new Leupold VXII 3x9 put on it at kesselrings a few days ago.

I used the supplied scope rings and am starting to second guess if I should have went with aftermarket rings. (After reading threads on the internet)

Will this set up be okay with the factory rings?  It's been bore sighted and I planned on going to the range this weekend.  Should I upgrade or stick with the ones that came with the rifle?

Scopes on tight, and everything looks good.  Any feedback?

I've got two Tikka's that have the factory rings on them. I do lots of shooting, haven't had a problem with either.

I too was a bit skeptical regarding the factory rings, but never had an issue with the rings on any of the three Tikka's I previously owned.

Factory rings on my 300WSM are solid as a rock after 100 rounds or more.

I have the factory mounts on 2 tikkas and the 300wsm looks like it's getting stressed (mild spiderweb pattern emerging)
I may be a Warne customer soon.
If I was elk hunting this year, I'd replace them.
The 300WSM has (ahem) some recoil.

That is putting it mildly, no pun intended.

Just got back from the range. My 338 Federal has been giving me problems lately. Shot two rounds thru it, one clipped the top of the target at one hundred yards, the other was six inches to the right. I started looking over my gun when I noticed that the front factory Tikka ring had broken! >:(. That explains why it has been shooting all over the place lately. Off to Sportsmans to get some new rings tomorrow.

I would call ahead and make sure Sportsmans has the right rings.
There are some good threads on Graybeard re Tikka mount setups.
Deadnutz is probably the one I'd choose.
I'll see if I can post some threads...http://www.go2gbo.com/forums/index.php/topic,152430.0.html
