This year my Montana hunt got move up to the first week in November instead of mid month. Does anyone have experience with when the rut starts in the Havre area?

We hunt the Sweetgrass hills (Outside of Shelby towards Whitlash) that is sort of close to where you will be hunting. the season ends two weeks early in this area compared to the rest of Montana. We go the last week of the season. this year it is Nov 5th through Nov10th. The whitetails are getting it done and the Muley's are just getting started. The Muley's we notice will be in groups and the bucks are with the does but they are not fighting to much yet and just getting ready. they are occupied enough with the pre-rut that its the does that bust you and the bucks just seem to follow. Now the Whitetails are usually in full rut. chasing the does and going nuts. Good luck!

Thanks, that was about what i thought. last year we got there around the 15th and the muley's were rutting hard. I don't think they ever rut as hard as the whitetail. had to move it up but hope the bucks are chasing during this time.

My experience is the peak of the rut is around Nov. 17th in that area.
