I blow through boots like crazey . Vasque are the best boots I've found for a big guy . they are heavy but very comfeee ! I bought a pair of under armor speed freaks and love them for the warmer weather . Danner makes a good boot aswell , I'm not to impressed with my kenntrek pack boots and they are built over seas , I didn't relize that till I baught them .

I found Bigfoot!!  I love my custom made Nick's boots for early archery on stand or hiking with my son during modern. I am looking for a good late season boot as well. But I agree 800 grm for hiking seems a bit much. My feet would be soaked from sweat.

Ya the rubber boots makes sense, but I do a lot of walking during my hunts, especially during late archery. I have good boots for early season archery but later season boots is what im looking for

Side Note: Adding a pair of gaiters will help keep your feet dry too with leather boots- won't be as likely for your pants and socks to wick into your boots.

I put a lot of miles on my boots in the water. Hunt the rainforest early and head east for late. I have been using Zomberlans for the past 3 years and they have been awesome! they aren't cheap (around $300) but if I can 3-4 seasons out of a pair of boots that says something. Also the guys that recommend good socks couldn't be more right. Spend some money on socks, your feet will love you.I also wear gators if there is snow present.

I have the Cabelas Outfitter 9" Pro Series 400 grams thinsulate boots and I am really enjoying them. I have had them for a couple years and put at least 28 miles on them this opening weekend and have no complaints. I have used them in the desert, the mountains, snow, rain, and whatever else you could throw at them. Before that I had a pair of Georgia's that I walked the soles off of. Probably could have them resoled, but couldn't wait that long and ended up getting the Outfitters. They are on sale right now and cheaper than when I bought mine.

I've walked 5 to 10 miles a day many times in my Lacrosse rubber boots, with no problems.

its amazing how feet can adapt to what you wear, back when i had lil kid feet i endend up with a rubber boot full of blood after one day in the brush..

obviously i like kentreks products..had the mt extremes in just about everything and i still like em,i use a gel heel cup as well

x2 on the socks tho..i really recommend "toe" sock liners

Maybe you could get a pair costom made? They cost a little more but, they would be what you want...

so far its not my Meindl's Bought them thinking they would be comfy...they feel great till about hour 4 of a hike and my feet are so sore. 2 other buddies have the same boots and have the same issues. My Keen hikers in the early were the best I have ever owned

my meindls  have gotten much better since i put the danner foot soles from my old boots in them. they have plenty of cushion under the foot for all day wearing now. the soles are danner fatiguwe fighter 24/7 adn they sell for like 15-20$.

Rubber boots have come a long way since I was a kid. You really need to try them to believe it. Still I wouldn't recommend them for days that you plan on hiking long distances. I normally wear them at times when I won't be going more than a couple of miles. They're perfect for hunting blacktails in the timber. No worries when you ha be to cross a creek or swampy ground.

yeah the boots i wore wear prolly from the 60's..i was thinkn about geting a pair for the snow/road hunting just to extend the life of my kentreks but i need to get a job first

I have been wearing Schnee's for years used them in SE Alaska, Idaho and all over Washington keep them greased and they will shed water and keep your feet dry. Made in Montana 

 

I wear my Schnee's pac boots when I'm not walking a lot or when I'm doing a lot of sitting.  They are really warm, and heavy.

When I'm doing more walking and not a lot of sitting at a time, I've got Cabela's rubber boots (similar to what Bobcat linked) with 400 gram Thinsulate that work great.

Both of those boots are really good for hunting in Western WA.  I really like both of them.
