Last Chance Wy Muley (Video Added)
« on: October 19, 2012, 08:52:44 PM »
Well it was a brutal year in our High country area this year. we pounded out over 100 boot miles and turned up 9 mature bucks and 21 wolves all the wolves were either before season or once season was open we couldnt get within range. My dad had passed on a great buck on the 3rd day of season that had the head gear but was a young buck. We made a last chance bonzi trip hoping to find a solid mature buck before season closed. After talking it over we decided to hunt lower down the drainage were we typically dont see many bucks mostly does but after not finding them above tree line figured we had nothing to loose. Well at first light we spotted a lone buck feeding along some burnt timber he was a little over a mile away so we decided to close the distance and get a better look at him. We closed the distance to about 500 yds and stopped to look him over unfortunately he was a young buck probably 3.5 yrs old. We were sitting on the ridge discussing this and I caught a slight movement out of the corner of my eye, pulled up my glasses to find 3 of the biggest bodied deer I have ever seen, we looked them over real good and decided on the better buck out of the group being a big ol  3x3. Dad made a great 285 yd shot on him. The body on this buck was ridiculous well over 300# he had 2.5" of fat all the way down his back and over his ribs We have killed some big bodied deer before but nothing like this thing!

That is one big bodied Muley. Congrats

Talked to other guys hunting WY and said the bucks were at  lower elevations  this year due to the drought.
