13 year old daughter does it again
« on: October 20, 2012, 05:23:00 PM »
Well my daughter does it again.  She got drawn for a second deer this year so it's her 5th deer in 4 years.
Opening morning we get to our favorite spot about 30 minutes before light and find someone else already there. :bash: :bash:  My daughter wants to go up anyways, but I talk her out of it.  We decide to set up on a draw that I know the deer use for an escape route.  So about 30min. after light we hear a shot up on top.  Sure enough we see this buck running right down our draw.  We thought maybe he was hit, but was going to have Steph. drop him anyways for the other guy.  The buck gets down to the bottom and pauses just long enough for her to hit him in the neck.  He dropped instantly it was about a 40 yard shot.  So we go up to the deer and there aren't any other holes in him.  I tell her congrats it's your buck.  It turns out that the other guy hit him in the back leg below the knee.  He took a running shot.  I went up the hill to see if they are looking for the deer.  I found them and told him where he hit it so he came down to check it out.  He ended up giving my daughter a congrats and being thankful someone got him because he never would have seen him again since it wasn't even bleeding.  So deer 1 we had back to the truck by 8:30am.
Not much happened Saturday night a few deer came in but nothing offered a shot or had young fawns with them.  So Sunday evening we set up in our spot.  A bunch of does finally come out and one big one that was alone offered a shot at 158yds.  She hit her perfect, but she took off so I told her to shoot again.  The second shot hit dead center of the spine and dropped her.

This girl is going to have to slow down before she passes up her old man :chuckle:  I love it when she is successful.  It's such a good feeling sharing that experience with them.

Congrats, she's off to a heck of a start.
