The Model 7 we have has a lower quality wood stock. It is a great shooter, and I dont mind it not being a pretty chunk of walnut, its a work horse gun for my kids that looks pretty close to how it did the day we bought it.  Heck, even my Dad harvested his biggest mule deer with the little Model 7, no complaints from the old man.
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

I got my 7yr old son a weatherby vanguard in 308.  Came with both a youth and adult stock. 
It was fairly cheap and very accurate
