I have seen a couple blacktail that would go an honest 200+lbs. Not calling anyone liars but I'd like to see pictures of these 250-300lb deer. I've killed a couple big bodied mule deer bucks that probably wouldn't have weight 300lbs. Again, not calling anyone a liar would just love to see a 300lb blacky.

I'm headed to Wyoming now to look for a 300lb high country muley to compare to.

One of my bigger blacktails was an old 18 inch 2x3, had to bone him out as I was way back. I weighed the boned out meat and was 130. Yes that was boned meat , I made 2 trips to get him out .  I had another buck that scored 127 that was 197 gutted so right around that 250 maybee 260 pound mark live . Wife killed a 10 1/2 year old blacktail 2 years ago we brought out guts and all just for chits and giggles as it was a good sized buck , probably the 6th biggest boddied blacktail we have killed and he was 220 live , 175 gutted and 155 hanging meat . I had another old 3 point that went 186 gutted, and a big heavy 4 point that was bigger than any other blacktails I have gotten weights on and was from Lincoln Creek .

Great answers! A interesting fact is that body mass of deer species usually increases the further north the animal is located. Example California BT<Oregon BT<Washington BT<BC BT as far as body weight goes. In whatcom county I have never weighed one that went less than 205 gutted. Finally got a live weight on one...guesses?

That's like asking what is the average weight of a human.  Deer like all cervids very from genetic make up to how much beer they drink. :chuckle: really though they can very a lot.
worldwide average human weight is 136.7 pounds....

AOD has a pic posted above and I  killed a buck similiar to it.  14 inch wide 3x3 with eyeguards that I figure to be 3.5-4 yrs old.  Just finished butchering him up and ended up with 24 pounds of steaks and 42 pounds of burger.  66 pounds of meat total and that included rib and al the neck meat.  Figure it weighted near 150pounds on the hoof.

Couple years ago my son shot a buck and we hauled 95 pounds of boned out meat off that hill.  left rib meat and bloodshot meat there.  prolly 10 pounds worth.    It was an easy 200 plus pounds on the hoof.   have seen a dozen or so bucks as big or maybe a little bigger body wise.  They can get very big.  I shoot all my bucks west of I-5.

Been at this along time... 40 plus years... There are a few 200lb. plus pound BL bucks in our area... I don't think I can honestly say I have seen to many over that size here... GMU 651,672,648 636... They are here but, seem to be to smart when I'm out looking for them... My biggest one came from the middle of Stump Lake in 1976... 3x4 22 inches wide 209lbs.with the guts out...Very water logged buck...weighed the buck on hay bail scales...not sure how accurate they were...

I have shot many blackies and most are probably around the 150 mark. I did get a forkie that was 17 inches wide several years ago and he was a toad. I couldn't drag him by myself.

This topic does remind me of growing up in Michigan. The whitetail are way bigger there than any of the ones I've seen in Wa. but they also have to pack on more weight for the winter. I remember cutting 2 to 3 inches of fat off some and over here they don't even have any fat.

damn sounds kinda like bears all of them are 400 lbs,200 lbs is a huge blackie :chuckle:

400 lbs is a huge bear.  200?  Most mature bears in this state are 180 +/- a few pounds.  Doesn't take a huge frame for a fall bear to go 250.  Especially over on the Penninsula, every bear I used to see over there was a fatty.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

My family has taken a few over 250lbs, one of them was my mom's 3x3 which was 245lbs hanging before it was skinned out. they all came from unit 460. And I've seen a few that looked closer to 300lbs but it's hard to judge a deer until it's on the ground or on a scale.
