At the vet :-(

My dog was fine one minute this morning and completly drained the next. She vomited and seemed to be alright but we took her in any way. The doc said she looked alright but to watch her, and now her whole face is swollen and back at the vet. Hope it all turns out alright

Wow, seems like a reaction to something.  I'm sure the vet will ask.  Did you have anything out that might cause a reaction if ingested?  Could also be a reaction to a bite or sting.

  I had a lab once that would get all swollen up from bee stings.  Nearly lost her once because he airway closed up close to all the way.  I hope the vet figures it out.

they said that it seems she ingested something, what i dont know. we live in the sticks so she sometimes wonders, they gave her a steroid shot and an antihistamine and said to follow up with benadryl. Pretty much just watch for anymore vomiting or the squirts.

Benedryl is what I gave my girl after the close call per the vet instructions.  Usually gave it to her and she was fine.


Keep an eye on her and hopefully this will work itself out.

That definately doesn't look like something she ate, unless it was a bee. Steroids and benadryl should fix her right up  Recent vaccination/medication??

I vote for sting of some sort, unless she trying out an early Halloween costume.

Had a dog here that looked like that a couple months ago,it was a spider or yellowjacket, and felt horrible for a couple three days,we dosed him with the benedryl  right from the get go and a few days went by and poof good as new.

I don't think it was a bee, she was stung last month on her eye and it hardly swelled. We thought maybe a bite as well but the vet (who didn't look very hard) said he couldn't see any wounds. Her face is nearly normal now but she looked bad for a while, I felt bad but I couldn't help but laugh a little

For whatever reason it seems like the stings in the mouth are the ones that cause swelling,We could see the sting/bite mark inside the mouth of the dog here.Small red spot,and white gums.

My step daughter's aussie cattle dog had a similar reaction recently.  Dog is outside all day so there is no way to know that caused it but I am guessing it was a spider or bee to the mouth.  He likes to eat spiders so I wouldn't be surprised if that was it.  Steroid shot, benadryl, and all is well.  Hope your pup is back to normal in a couple days.

I know this is not the cause of your dogs issue but my lab (and her sister) were both horribly allergic to the fricking cottonwood tree used to be on the neighbors property.  My lab's eyes were so swollen once her eye lids were actually starting to show blood seeping through the skin.  Once again benadryl fixed them up and the tree is now gone.
