Montana 6x6 Bull (updated pics)
« on: October 28, 2012, 12:23:30 AM »
so i haven't been on much since moving to Montana but figured i would share alittle elk success found this bill around 3 in the afternoon bedded down and attempted 3 different stalks on him and never saw him but every time i went back to where i spotted him he was still there so a hour before dark i decided to give it one more go and couldn't find him and to my suprise caught a glimpse of him as i was headed back to my quad about a 1/4 mile away i had a very small window to shoot thru and hit him alittle higher than i would have liked but hell it works just lost alittle backstrap . took everything out of my pack and realized i didn't have my camera in there :bash: :bash: :bash: so i snapped a few shots with the garmin gps and got to work. i have shot spikes in washington but never realized how big a mature bull is i weigh 200 pounds and couldn't budge this guy.  after getting it cut up and most of it hung in a burnt widow maker that was the only thing reassembling a branch around i started to pack the head and a front quarter out made it about three steps and slipped and broke my thumb  :bdid: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:.  made it back to the quad at about 10 and started my hour ride out of there with a broken right thumb it was tricky :chuckle:.  anyways ill post some better pics tomorrow when i get done packing the rest out.

Congrats on the bull, sorry about the thumb. Later today when you have it all out, you will sleep like a baby.

Beautiful bull, be careful with the rest of the pack.

If you love something you will set it free, if it don't come home, hunt it down and kill it.
