how many shell's can a shotgun hold for coyote's bobcat..

well i'm keeping the shotgun i got. i read in the the game law's. it is illegal to  " Hunt gamebird's with a shotgun capable of holding more than three shell's."

cant find anything on predator's.

you smart guy's. is there a law on coyote's and bobcat. number of shell's. should i plug the shotgun to only hold three. thank's Rick

Correct, no more than 3 can fit in the gun for WINGSHOOTERS.

This doesn't apply to predators or large game.
Just make sure you follow the specific rules for shot size.

For instance, if you are not licensed for modern firearm hunting for deer or elk during an open deer/elk modern firearm season, you cannot be hunting with #00 or #01 buck....which is fine by my, #04 buck is my fav. 'yote load.
it's all in the regs....just difficult to find all the references.

I take my plug out for coyotes.  That way I have 5, 3" buckshot rounds ready.  I am considering buying a magazine extension to get me an extra two rounds.  It is nice having a little extra fire power.

No you cant. I had a gamy check us last year. I had a double but he had the two guys i was with show the plugs. If you hunt yotes with a shotty during bird season i`d recomend keeping the plug in.

Because it's affordable, and effective, I use #2 "heavier than lead" for (small game) predators.

And I don't care what a game warden thinks, I'll fill my shotgun up with it.

Until you KILL a given animal with a shotgun with "too many" shells in it, say a turkey or a grouse, you haven't broken any laws.

I can take my shotgun for a walk in the woods, filled with seven rounds of whatever I want, AND NO HUNTING LICENSE... and unless they can prove in a Court of Law, that I intended to break the law, or that I did... it's completely legal.

I carry a .22 pistol, and if asked, that's my grouse gun.

Most days I don't intend on shooting anything but small game predators with my shotgun, and there's no way anyone will ever PROVE otherwise.

The easy answer if you are hunting with a shotgun is put the plug in and forget it is there. Besides, would you pass a chance up for a grouse lunch anyway?

I agree with that one. Do you really need more than 3 inside the shotgun? I leave my plug in. Extra shells go in my pocket. A triple with a shotgun would be impressive. I cant imagine a quad kill.

You guys assume a lot, thinking one shell per animal.

A coyote often requires a back up shot, to finish it off, with a shotgun, especially at maximum yardage and/or in marginal habitat... a double could end up being a tough proposition, with only three shells.

Grouse and most upland bird counts are down this year, I'll pass on grouse for a better season.

And I hunt predators hard when I go, I don't need a warm grouse in my pack all day or rotting in my truck, and I don't have time for "cook-outs".

KFC makes a better bird, and I can eat it on the fly, or I can get some on my way home.

Yeah I guess I was only thinking one shot per coyote. Lucky for me I have only had to put two shots in one coyote on one occasion. But the more I think about it, I guess I havent really shot too many out past 50 yards. I need to grab a rifle and try my luck on the Eastside when I get back. All this predator talk makes me ancy.
