new to area and hunting
« on: October 24, 2012, 05:55:46 PM »
I am new to the area, my uncle lives in Pullman and took me Mule Deer hunting last year and got my first deer, I have been wanting to go bear hunting on the westside, herd from others that Darrington is good area, is it open this time of year? I have been once on Eastside near Lake Wenatchee as my family has some land over there, but am totally new to hunting and could use any advice or help to get my feet a little wet.
Thanks

there are no single answers, best advice i can do is tell you read the regs, and then the site, read read read and keep asking questions, but for bear better hurry i think the clock for them is winding down   :dunno:

and welcome!

eff that, go out hiway 2 east, look for gates that do NOT say "permit required" and start walking. if its pass required then its gonna cost you. look for berries, then bear crap, and start hunting, sneaking, prying, keep your scent down, ya get your bear hunt on. I'm no pro this was my first year hunting bear and only went 5x and didnt get one but its easy to start somewhere, i read ALOT here and got on 2 my first trip out, and ya we wont discuss that but this will get ya started, I just quit too soon and started looking for bambi  :chuckle:

Welcome to HuntWa!

Some of the timber companies charge a fee for an access permit to enter their property, spring bear permits are a completely different and seperate type of permit.  They are done through WDFW by an application and drawing, there is no over the counter spring bear hunting here, that is only in the fall season.

:yeah: Spring bear is permit that you have to put in for. Read the regs then go online and follow the process. I see that you live in Everett so I would suggest going to John's Sporting Goods in North Everett or Ted's in Lynwood and have them help you out. Good luck and welcome to the site. I'm looking forward to your post about success some day.
