Great tracking job.  I never knew that a severly wounded bear would head downhill.  Thanks for that nugget of wisdom.  Good work, and it looks like 50cal has banked a lot of points.  He'll probably save it for humping out a huge elk through a fire cut or something just as fun.

It is scary going after them in the brush huh?! I love it!

Grats on the bear and putting forth the effort. Good story and pics! Getting a rug, mount, etc?

saylean, I'm getting a shoulder mount, it will show all three colors (black, brown, and white patch) and still fit the current budget.

Congrats - great story.  I think even approaching one you can see can be a little pulse quickening.

3 1/2 for tracking time  :chuckle: you should have told 50cal to bring his golden retriever  :chuckle: Anywho good bear and nice color phase and what unit did you get it in?

We could have used a "MasterTracker".

I am going to start carrying a call with me from now on. I've never used predator calls before but I think that would have made a huge difference because I could have made the bear stop moving, and he was still moving at a good pace when I shot. If any of you "callers" have any suggestions for a good small all-around call for a beginner please let me know.

Awesome bear.  The hard work always adds to the experience and makes it that much more rewarding.  Congrats.

Nice Job!  I have really seen some screwed up bear head mounts, but that one really looks great!  Congrats.
