Right on, learned something new today!
Please tell me it wasn't that you should not use your rifle scope for glassing. ;)

I think he was referring to the location of Markworth

Had a buddy describe a similar  story except that he was using binos to watch the rifle scoper... He gave the rifle guy the hands in the air like what? then grabbed his own rifle and scoped the stupid guy... It apparently sent the right message because the guy left.

Apparently they slept through hunter safety......Then again my dad always told me never point a gun at something unless you intend to shoot it. I ditch the bino's once I know I'm looking at a deer. My leupold has much better optics and 12x vs my cheap bushnell 10x binos. I also while you think it looks awesome never buy camo colored bino's makes it way too easy to loose track of them.  Luckily I have never witnessed some one glassing me with a scope, but I would be pretty pissed too!

My wife, and my son had an issue with this opening weekend difference being the guy actually fired.  Mind you this was on private property where there is not public land, or feel free to hunt anywhere near it the jack ass was just driving the dirt roads trying to poach off of other peoples property.  There was only mule deer does in the area at that time so I have no idea what he was shooting at.  The game wardens were looking for him, but never found him.

Sadly I see a law in the future that if you hunt with a scoped rifle,.you will need to carry a pair of binoculars, too. All thanks to the *censored* waffles amongst us that love their $1,500.guns a little too much but suddenly "can't afford" a $500 pair of binos.

A $100 set of binos is better for glassing than a scope!

If a law is going to be made it might as well be done right. probably will aay something like the value of the binos must be equal to out greater than the scope. Otherwise people will be buying those tiny $20 Tascos, throwing them in the bottom of the hunting pack, then scoping away.

:yeah:  I didn't want to say it as to not give them ideas, but I foresee that law too.

A buddy of mine gets the equipment setup like you describe, but doesn't scope people.  Guy goes and gets high end .50 BMGs or other nice tactical setups and put the $79 guaranteed-to-fog-and-can't-use-in-low-light scopes.  :dunno:

Yep. I'm hunting with that guy this year, too. He has his DPMS AR-10 with all the tactical Rambo *censored* accessories. Then he showed up to the first scouting trip with a $50 pair of binos after I spent the last year telling him about how its really  quality optics, not quality weapons, that make one a successful hunter.  :bash: then he asked if he could borrow a sleeping bag and pad.  :bash: :bash: :bash: I offered to make a stop at Costco or WMT. He thought about it for a minute, then decided to just roll up in. the blanket he brought.

We made plans together so I'm going to hunt with  him, but he won't be joining me next year.

had this to me twice by same dumba$$ & turned him in as I met his partner before on different ridge & knew their license plate. officer called him & then called me back & said "nothing to charge him with, no law against it" but never saw him on the ridge again.

We have some property up mill creek that we post feel free to hunt. There is a couple big canyons that eventually funnel into stubble. I was out keeping in eye out and checking some equipment to get ready to burn and seed.

Some *censored* scoped me for a good minute plus.

10 feet from my pickup and about 100 feet from a challenger.

Yes I was wearing orange as I had not crossed paths with a shooter yet.

It's happened before but it's one of those things that you never get used to.

You're totally right but even spending 1/2 or 1/5 that much on a pair of binos will get a pretty decent pair too.  Even less of an excuse.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.
