Marckworth hunters this morning, buy some frickin binoculars
« on: October 31, 2012, 07:04:29 PM »
I was in a treestand on the far end of a clearcut, you guys were walking up the road in the middle.  One of you didn't have binocs and were steadily "glassing" the clearcut with your riflescope.  At one point you held dead on me for what seemed like an eternity.  It was so long that I was worried you were about to take a shot and I came da*n close to sending some lead your way.  I was mulling over in my mind whether a jury would convict me because I truly feared for my life a few moments there.

And there are guys on here that condone this. :bash:

"Glassing" with a scope is bad enough, but sheesh who in hell holds on something that's hunter orange????
On another note, how'd you do? I was out there in thecMarkworth from 2 til just about dark and didn't see squat. It was really disappointing since my local neighborhood deer are well into the rut.

I didn't see a thing today or even in the last few days... nothing, not even a doe (I don't think I even saw a squirrel).

My only guess about the bozo holding on me for so long is that I was up in my portable treestand and he couldn't figure out what he was looking at.

I think it was pretty slow out there this year. deer wise anyways, lots of hunters. I did see a gutpile by one of the gates but that was pretty much the only thing i saw.

i definitley agree that being glassed through a scope is unnerving and just plain stupid.

I know of 2 small ones taken this year. One was a 2 pt. taken last night right off the road about 50 feet.

Freakin Idiots! I've had this happen more then once.

Every time it happens to me it makes me remember the movie Sniper, I think about the scene when Tom Berenger killed the other sniper by sending a bullet through his scope.

That annoys me too when i see people doing that.  Had that happen to me when I was in college at CWU and deer hunted the Umptanum unit zoo.  What/where is Marckworth?  Not an area I have heard of before, just curious.

Pretty foolish to hold your rifle on a blaze orange dot.

Marckworth is state forest land located near Duvall (35minutes east of Seattle).  It's managed as a tree farm.

New to this board, thought I`d share my "buy some freaking binoculars" story here. I was still hunting some 25` reprod on the St Helen`s tree farm, across the canyon 500-600 yards a truck pulls out on a landing, as I`m watching them with my binos two guys get out of the truck, put beers on hood, and go piss. Then one of them grabs a rifle out of the truck and begins to scan the openings near me, I respond with "buy some freaking binoculars" loud enough for them to hear me. The guy hollers back "it`s not loaded", I respond with "mine is". The other guy grabs his rifle out of the truck as I dive behind a log and rest my rifle across it, holding a foot above guy#1`s head, scope cranked to 9x. They both begin to scan the area with their scopes, looking for me, I can clearly hear one of them say "it sounded like he was right over there, below that road". Closest I`ve ever been to shooting someone, If one of them would have fired their gun, I would have fired mine, 300wsm, handloads, practice often, never miss{with a rest}. They finally gave up trying to spot me and moved on. Bill

Had a guy aim his rifle at me while in my treestand Saturday morning. Pretty irritating, especially when you can bet there is a round in the chamber. Buy a pair of binoculars.

Please tell me it wasn't that you should not use your rifle scope for glassing. ;)
