Coyotes--I want to try my hand but......

My wife bought me one of those electronic preadator call things for christmas last year and I have yet to actually use it because I have such a hard time determining where I can actually legally hunt in W. WA anymore.

I have to take some vacation before the end of the year and I was thinking of spending a day or two trying to pop some coyotes, but after a long time spent on the WDFW and DNR sites trying to find somewhere likely looking on public land within an hour of Monroe I'm still lost.

My email is awasteofthyme@gmail.com for anyone who can help me out with even one public land option in the Skykomish Valley, Sultan Basin or other nearby areas.

I'm aware that few people are interested in sharing their favorite spots with complete strangers but anyone who is willing will have my eternal thanks, if nothing else.

Not too familiar with that area, but the GoHunt app on WDFW's site pretty much lays out all the public land in the state.  You just have to play with the layers a little bit.

Quitea bit of ground in your area....I would suggest Google Earth then compare the areas to the snoho county assessors website of ownership....shouldn't be to hard to find some spots.

Lots of tree huggers around but any of the DNR land in the Sultan basin is open for hunting. It's mostly walk in only. Park at the yellow gates and walk in. Bring your shotgun and your patience.

Find a big farmer field and ask for permission. Wait till after a hard rain and the doggies will be out mousing

I'm thinking Sultan Basin is probably my best bet. My experience is that there are a friggin ton of people out there though. I just can't get used to hunting and fishing in crowded areas. I guess I'll have to hike a long way from the road to avoid nudists and tree huggers.

I'm not ancient by any means, but when I moved back here I was astonished to see well established neighborhoods built up in areas where we used to hunt/fish as a teenager in the late 80's out in the Sky Valley. It's taken me nearly a decade to build up a list of good fishing spots again. Hunting is much harder due to the complicated regs, firearm restriction areas and all that junk.

Beckler River road maybe ? Haven't been up there in years. Call the Skykomish Ranger station and ask if there are any clearcuts close by.
