Elk Harrassing
« on: November 06, 2012, 06:58:40 PM »
:bash:I was hunting on some property that boarder fish & game draw only area, and the west of this property was draw & Pay to hunt, im on the east end on 22,920 + acres and no elk were crossing the fish & Game land into the private property i was huntin, so I drove the road between us several days to see if i missed them crossing but nothing since opening day so I listened one evening the 31st and heard a truck drive up the road then turn around and at 4 i heard a shot, then some bugling that didn't sound real? cows on my private land bellowing, I saw a guy walking the road, I think to keep the elk one their side. also I heard beef cows this rancher had where i was hunting around 4:30 bellowing. I'm pretty sure these people are keeping the elk from fleeing this property.  is this the game i have to play when hunting in Washington? Maybe i should just buy a out of state tag and forget hunting elk here! What do you guys think of this senerio? Yes i have names of these guys and the private property owners i hunt with know that this has been going on for sometime. they are just frustrated and don't trust the law inforcement. should i put this to a halt or let dead dogs lie?
I'm a huntress.

You need to report this to the WDFW!  They may not get them this year but, it will be on their radar.

report and if you can get any pics with a cell phone to back up what you are seeing plus plate numbers and such give them that as well...and yes in some areas this is how it works, pay to hunt but not high fence is gonna make for some really awesome scruples and creative elk penning

"I'm pretty sure these people are keeping the elk from fleeing this property.", is not going to cut it, you need proof.

If you can get that guy walking down the road at 3am with his rifle in hand after video of gun shots then you might have him by the balls.

:yeah:Were going to get more people, with video cameras & Cameras. Like i said these landowners are so sick of this, as they pay for tags to hunt on their property, but no elk will cross. as far as the cattle bellowing, the owner says they do that when they see people, thinking there getting moved to new pasture. Now with that said who can you trust? fish & game department if there not being paid one way or another, I think these guys hire guys to stage along this property when the Elk get moving, It starts at 4pm and calling most night. I even saw a 2nd shift releiveing this guy. He was on a radio with only a pistol. will georginzed for next year. whats fair is fair chase.

lilshootergirl,   this sounds very much llike something I have seen in years past.  2 years in a row, I called WDFW and was just ignored. I was on west side , north west of ST Helens.  Prob still goin on.    If you need some more eyes and another camera, im in.  not sure who WDFW is working for anymore.

If their property was more desireable the elk would already be there.  That probably has more to do with it then people on the road driving or walking.

I've seen many a person walking a road with a rifle during elk season. If that upsets you, you haven't been playing the game very long. ;)

Someone with a rifle is not necessarily breaking the law. He may be targeting shooting, hunting coyotes, etc.

Best of luck to you.
