Hopefully you are not applying for special hunt tags, because those of us who enjoy it would appreciate less competition.

I am indeed mystified how road hunting came into the discussion.

cow elk in 154 are the 2012 hide-and-seek champions!   :o

6 days of hunting, only spotted 5 elk.  all on hostile ground and singles with one cow/calf combo.  weren't even seeing many deer.  very weird.  the ground we had access to had no fresh sign newer than a couple of weeks.  our hot-dog spot near the shed hasn't had elk since summer, according to the sign!  :yike:

strangest elk season i've seen.  no deer, no elk, only 1 coyote.  there's usually some elk in the canyon behind my dad's place during spring/summer, but not this year.  my dad didn't fill his old man doe tag, either!   :yike: :bash:  sure, he could have shot one that he feeds in the pasture, but that's not much fun.

so along with his doe tag, he's eating his cow tag.   >:( :bash:

hence, elk hunting is dumb.   ;)

we road hunted some, he's almost 70 after all  ;).  but we ran every inch of the ground we have access to, too.  we hunted high, hunted low, hunted thick, thin, in/out, up/down...
