Late Archery Elk in the Nile
« on: November 04, 2012, 10:33:36 PM »
Who from here will be camping in the Nile for the late archery season. I'm hoping to be there for the whole Thanxgiving weekend. I'm plannin on setting up a tent in the Nile flats or meadow as some call it. Might want to meet some of you Wa Hunt folks if you're  going to be close.

Good luck, I have a feeling it's going to be a great late season for elk in that area.  I'll be helping out family members close by, but I think closer to D-Rock...

There are no elk in the Nile... no need to go there.  Both elk that were there have been eaten by wolves.  D-Rock knows where I'll be camped..LOL

Is that huge camp still there every year, just before the meadow, on the left? I think they call it Crooked Horn Camp. A friend and I hunted the Nile 5-6 years ago and we were welcome into that camp with open arms. Honestly, they were a bunch og great guys. Had cook tents, sleeping tents and poker tents with lights strung everywhere. That was alot of fun. One of the guys was from Moxee. I ran into him in Graham at the dump of all places. He was doing some foam work. Drove a black jeep. Sure would like to find that guy again. John Maybe? The old timer at the wood shed knew him well. He sent us down there to get bread and a couple cases of budweiser. Said to put it on his tab. We thought he was trying to send us on a wild goose chase but sure as heck...on his tab it went. Might be the best camp I was ever part of. Has a mix of Yakima area boys and folks from the wetside. Good friggin times. Its just hard to hunt the east side when we have elk all over us here on the wetside. I will never forget that camp though

I'll be driving a silver Chevy Silverado ext cab w/canopy and musky fishin decals on the side windows. Probably set up my nylon tent for a few days. Don't feel like going thru all the trouble to set up my wall tent etc just for myself. Everyone's welcome in my camp or around my fire. Stop in.

Our whole crew will be running up around Whistlin Jacks. We may swing down that way. We will be running around in the Big new Dark blue Dodge with the monster winch bumper and Bowhunter Elk Truck Rack. Stop and say hi or flag us down!. We are staying at the Wapato unit at Whistlin jacks from Friday after Thanksgiving to the following Wednesday.

See ya!
