New WPG Puppy!!
« on: November 05, 2012, 11:05:17 AM »
I've been doing research and wanting a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon for quite a while now.  They fit everything I was looking for as being a perfect hunting and family dog. There just so happened to be a live auction right in town last Saturday, with a special auction for a puppy.  It was a WPG, coincidence...... I think not. It took quite a bit of convincing for the wife, but once she saw him, it was a done deal, she loved him.  The bidding obviously went in my favor, and I got to take this beauty home!  He's 9 weeks old from Skeeter Holler Farm.  His name is Remi (short for Remington).  I just started getting into bird hunting last year, and it was an instant addiction.  I can't wait for the training to begin.  I'm definitely a proud new owner of this little guy.  I'd love any training tips, whether it be hunting training or crate training, etc. He already loves to fetch and he's pointed a few times at his little duck toy. I just wanted to show off this little guy too! Thanks

Nice lookin' pup!

I too am very fond of these dogs. They are indeed lacking in traditional looks but hey, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I would like to own one when the family and household is ready.

Where did you get him?

I got him at an auction in Spokane Valley.  Skeeter Holler Farm out of Cheney were the ones who donated him to the auction.  The auction proceeds went towards scholarships for kids.  I'd been researching these dogs for quite a while and I had even looked at the pups at Skeeter Holler Farm.  So, when I heard one was going up for auction, I had to go.  I think he still has one male left out of the litter of 10.  You can check out there website at http://www.skeeterhollerfarm.com/ I think they're expecting another litter later this fall. He's an awesome dog! He's got big ol' paws. He's going to be a brute!

Once we get our dogs huntin' together, those birds will be quivering with fear.  They'll be no stopping us!  :chuckle: Let the feathers fly!

They are really ugly, but cute dogs to.  I call my Ugly Bitch.... :chuckle: :chuckle:  and my wife yells at me every time, but shis a female dog and she ugly.   :chuckle:
