Selah butte sheep tags
« on: November 05, 2012, 12:06:52 PM »
Anyone have it and paid Reds 1500 bucks to hunt Eatons land?  I hope people know what kind of money they have to fork out on top of the $330 for the tag and beating the odds of gretting drawn.

They already had the deer and bird hunting, got the sheep this year. Was 500 last year before they took over.

They don't own the bottom end, but own where they own has most of the sheep.  Reds told a guy this weekend that the only state land is landlocked and not accessible.  But there are actually a few sections that go right to the road.

It's Eaton Ranch just up the top of the hill from big pines cp ground over the ridge and all the way from that point around the corner too the houses at the eburg end.. $1000 a yr. to hunt out there i heard? Maybe 1500 for one special permit holders sounds like a load a crap for the quality of rams in that area.  I would never apply for that tag

There is also a lot of BLM land out there. I have heard they post the BLM land also because they have the grazing lease on the land. Here is a link for the county assesors map so you can find the public land, and the access roads to that land. I have a buddy who helped another hunter a couple of years ago, maybe I can get him to log in and give you some more help.

Sounds like the type of thing someone would or should know before applying for that permit.  Do your homework in other words. When you consider the price of sheep hunts that people are willihg to pay, it probably doesn't seem that bad to some folks.

Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

Can you still access BLM land that is leased in WA. I know you can in WY and MT as long as there is access to it. There are a lot of greedy *censored*s in all those states that try to post BLM and FS lands to kept it for themselves.  Pricks.
Looks like buying a good gps and a hunting lands chip may be the way to go.

Yes, as long as you do not cross private land illegally to get to it.

Yes to the chip also.

According to my software, Eaton owns all the land inside the red lines.

I ran into a tag holder there when me and the girlfriend went on a scouting trip for elk at the end of sept.  seemed like a nice guy. No idea how he did, he had 10 more days and said he passed up several rams.
