So how did the trapper Class go?

So how did the trapper training class go? How many students were there? And also a big thanks to Karen and everyone else that gave up there time to put this together.

The class was great. Thanks to Karen, Bruce and NAFA rep (Sorry can't remember his name at the moment) for putting on this class. Bruce gave a demo at the end on muskrat, beaver and bobcat handling. Learned lots of great info and can't wait to get out and start trapping. If you want to get into trapping I would suggest going to a real class instead of online.

Bruce, I forgot to ask if you would mind if I posted the skinning videos I took? The muskrat and bobcat turned out very well.

I have always wanted to take one of these classes, but unfortunately worked today.  If another one is ever put on I would love to know about it.

It was great to go, I am excited to get going on trapping and carrying on a tradition my grandfather did for years.

Man I sure would like to have gone, but, elk season is open. No I didn't kill an elk but at least I was in the woods where I had a chance. Maybe next time.

I would have loved to had gone but it was to far for me to get to. Glad everyone got some good info. I would be highly interested in attending a class if their ever held more up north I-5. Congrats to all who get to start trpping!

It was a wee bit too far for me.  I'm keeping an eye out for a closer one, though.  I'd really like to go through it.

The classroom was pretty full. I would guess between 30 and 40 people showed up.  Bruce's skinning of the bobcat, beaver and muskrat was definetly a good thing to watch and learn about as well as what to use to make things easier. I didnt have a clue how to go about skinning and cleaning the hides properly to make them presentable for auctions so that really helps for sure.

It really was a great class...34 people attended, 30 registered and took (passed) the test. Lots of young people and 6 young ladies!  Many thanks to those who carried tables, moved chairs and helped things move along so well. And a special thank you to Adam Stowell and Bruce Vandervort; you both have an incredible amount of knowledge to share.
I am taking the paperwork to WDFW first thing in the morning.

I have to say the furhandling presentation was anything but ideal. Wet and raining, I wish we would have had a proper place to work. I was rushed also as it seemed people were gradually drifting off and I wanted get through it before everyone left.
I can't say I blame people for leaving. It was miserable.

To those who couldn't make it please do persist in contacting George Brady (509)923-2326. We will try to get you hooked up with an instructor so you can be certified and get a license.

If it was too far for you to get to the class I apologize but please understand we don't have a lot of instructors. We are trying to give one good class on each side of the state every year and for those who can't make that we will try to do one on one instruction as people call us and express interest.
If nothing else call and get the manual. The one we send out is head and shoulders above the one WDFW has online. You can than study the manual and we can make arrangements for you to take the test.

I had an absolute blast! The class was very informative and educational. The demonstrations were very helpful and I am very happy I stayed to the end.I would recommend that class to anyone that has any interest in spending time in the outdoors even if they never end up trapping.
