If you unload and load the mag a lot, you could have main spring failure.  There is also bent feed lips or any number of things that jam up the follower to prevent it from feeding rounds.

I've seen mags get bent and become inop, but not while they were inside the weapon.  Guess a really bad double-feed could do that.  XDm mags are pretty stout though.

mag question

I've walked around in the woods for most of my life hiking and hunting, rarely ever with a side arm. Not till I started talking to other hunters on these forums did I realize  just how scared I Really was of the woods!   Now I carry a doublebarreled laser guided heat seeking 35rnd ISW pocket cannon with 3lb trigger job with extra mags in one of those mechanically loaded up the sleeve jobs.

Seriously, will somebody please share there "personal" story of how they were attacked by a heard of rabid honey badgers and had to fire more than 10rnds out of they're trusty side arm here in Washington state??

I don't think his question was hunting related.  I personally don't carry concealed while hunting, makes it real hard to get a shot off.

I was on a hunting trip in the middle east and my companions and I came across this rabbit.  It was a really deadly rabbit.  I unloaded my entire magazine to no effect.  Fortunately we had a Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch.  Fixed our rabbit problem right up.  If I ever come across another, or even more deadly, a pack of them, I sure hope I have several full mags ready to go.

Anyhow, back on the topic, why you guys busting balls about the question?  If the man wants to carry more mags, help him figure out how.

I usually carry two mags in the XD double mag holder OWB offhand from my weapon that is IWB or OWB, just a t-shirt or light jacket covering all.

When hunting, hiking etc..., one of those mags usually has bird shot for the occasional rabid grouse.

Besides, I believe in suppression fire, lol

There are high priced attorneys chasing each one of those supressive rounds.  :tung:
