I only shoot about 30 arrows per practice session. I'm not an expert but fancy myself a good shot, and I tend to think that if you're so worn out that you know your form is suffering, its time to hang it up for the day.
I have one i wear with a jacket to keep my sleeve from interfering with the string.

late season its def nice to have something to keep those puffy coats compressed
Might sound a little funny. I use an old sock to hold my jacket and under layers out of the way on my shooting arm. They are green and add to the camouflage. Shayne
Practice = no guardEarly season short sleeve = no guardLate season bundled up with heavy clothing = guard to keep sleeves tight.Men have a natural bend to their arm, so most guys don't need it.If you have good form and are consistent, you should not need one.
By the way don't forget to practice with the coat that you're going to be hunting with and the armguard if you're going to use it to make sure it all works before you get out there and have An animal in front of you
