Weyerhaeuser Questions
« on: November 09, 2012, 10:13:24 PM »
Never been up there before, a few basic questions:

Can I drive around in there if no hunt is going on?

Is it open for the late modern?

As far as accessing, I was going to drive up there tomorrow. Coming from Vancouver, i'll be heading in from Kelso? Is Ostrander road the best way?
If anyone wants to explain a little better how to access it that would be great. thanks

pm if you want.

Sounds like you have your area picked out. Weyco has a hotline it can be reached at 1-866-636-6531. It will give you automated instructions/information to the area your looking to access.

Is the Weyerhouser land just east of Yacolt a limited weapon, shotgun archery? Is the limited weapon just battleground? The Yacolt burn is in Washougal I beleive.

No fire arm restrictions in GMU 568  :hunter:

Fire arm restrictions do apply for the GMU 564 unit...  :archery_smiley:

Awesome thanks. Gunna be a fun first time in the PW Northwest. Never seen a live blacktail buck before. I do have boatloads of hunting experience, just not this part of the country.

Gifford Pinchot National Forest / Weyerhaeser St Helens Tree Farm in Yacolt.

I am guessing you will be going in the 8500 or 8600 gate?

You should see antler if you get in to the woods a bit....

Good Luck!

I plan on burning some boot leather, using my Swaros to my benefit.

I went in from fs-42 and found the top of the land this morning. Still trying to figure out where the gate is through Yacolt. Haven't driven through Yacolt yet.

If you enter Yacolt from the west, turn left at the 3 way intersection, by the train tracks.
Follow that road south straight into the tree farm.
It's not true that I am good for nothing---I can be used as a bad example!!

Perfect. When you get into town at the 3 way stop at the train station... Take a right .. go all the way up to the gate. You will see the first gate ( 8600 )  up around the bend is another gate ( 8500 ) ..2 gates... ( We like the 8500 gate ), older timer.. for sure..

Good Luck to you..

Will you be hunting all four days, or only a few?...

We will be hunting private land in GMU 564 .. Then off to the Burn ( pumpkin patch ), for Grouse, I thought it be good eats if we had 6-10 Grouse for Thanksgiving.. ( bird day and all )..

No, Private land.. Weyerhaeuser St Helens tree farm... If you travel out side Weyerhaeuser land .. be careful... You have DNR  land on Dole valley road.. DNR ( pass needed ).. 1100 and 1200 roads..

If you go to Sunset Falls... NFS no pass required..

What will you be driving?.. We will be in a 07 Silverado Graystone Ebony with Custome Leer truck cap .

We should meet up!..You bring the table cloth , we will bring the coffee...Hope to see you ..
