I know exactly where it was.  It was the area that I didn't have a permit for and maybe didn't apply for.  And it doesn't matter what tag it was because that deer isn't going to be there anymore anyways.  Enjoy the pics, be happy for the kid and keep putting in for the areas that you always have and know so you have a chance at getting a big deer.  It's not like this area is full of 178" deer.  My guess is there are 178" deer in at least 6 different quality areas and you can only put in for two so go with what you know, not an area that you saw one big deer taken from that you have never been to.

OK, here is the deal with asking about units on the internet.  Thousands of people view this site, not just you.  If you ask about a spot for the general season, and it actually posts on the net, chances are it will be swarmed when you get there next year.  If you ask about a unit that was a special draw tag, you will experience roughly the same thing; except that instead of having an extra 15 or 20 people in "your spot", there will be an extra 15 or 20 people (likely more actually) that will be putting in for the tag and thereby reducing the chances of you drawing.  Either way, no one wants their spot posted on a public forum.
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

you guys all say ruined, i say that it is more motivation to push harder and find mature deer. keep the passion alive and not just settle for the first deer he sees each year. i think its great he got to experience that asa young man. he will want to get that addrenaline and feeling back year after year, its what keeps all of us going back. congrats on an extremely beautiful deer bud. i hope you continue to have more for us in the future

Well its official, the buck grossed 196 non typ. net non typ 193, and net typ was 176. He is 14 yo and he should make #1 in WA state book for his age group.  The buck was scored by a local official here in town.

What difference does it make if they reveal the GMU. It was a SPECIAL DRAW PERMIT. I don't get it? If is was killed where most are assuming it was. I don't think it is much of an un-kept internet secret. Just read the game laws and you can see that 4500 people apply there every year on avg. The surrounding GMUs get plenty of applications as well. Nice buck!

Well, if your gonna post pics of your wife online you should expect someone to ask what her measurements are or maybe where you found her.  This is a public forum and the deer was posted here.  I think it is a reasonalbe question to ask....doesn't mean that OP has to answer... :twocents:

By they way, I know the GMU so I just post this as a matter of principal....If you don't like someone asking don't post it for other to be curious....or just don't answer their question.   However, don't get but hurt when they do ask.

Anyone that posts a trophy online is going to get asked what GMU it came from. Especially when they say it was a special draw permit. And for the record; I did not ask. I asked what the big deal was for revealing it.

Perhaps they should not be bragging online about the kids deer, if they don't want to answer questions. Just saying...
