Vet needed
« on: November 12, 2012, 06:15:58 PM »
Was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction to a vet that is good with sporting dogs in the issaquah area, I don't mind driving alittle ways for a good vet. I have a 11 month old English setter. I just dropped 500 dollars at the vet because my dog has had bad diarrhea since last Thursday after a hunting trip when he came back and puked pretty bad and hasn't had solid stool since then. The vet told me it was nothing after some test and gave him som meds. The wouldn't even see him today after 4 days of still having diarrhea. I feel bad for the pup cause its explosive and doesn't look like he's having fun. He seems to act normal other than that, urine and appetite are good and he wags his tail and chews his bone.

Thanks in advance for any help

Did you take him to Cascade? I've got nothing but good to say about Dr Weeks at Cherry Valley veterinary hospital. In Duvall. Been taking my lab there for +/- 8 years.

You might send Paul "happy Gilmore" on here a pm and ask him. He's in the know on the local gun dog stuff.

Yeah at 500 bucks for a diagnosis of your dogs got the squirts.............. you need a new vet.I've had MAJOR events where the dog underwent surgery and was kept at the vet for 3 days that only cost 750.And for the 750 the issues were resolved. One procedure was removal of a cheat grass awn from the out stomach wall and the other was a hysterectomy because of Pyometria. Both pretty serious issues. The *censored*z should have got a poop smear look under a microscope and a prescription for Flagl and pepto bismol. If your worried about hydration dogs love childrens pedialyte in the nonflavored variety. My guess is your dog got into some akali tainted water and it burned his guts.I've had experiance with this very thing in Montana, the vet in montana prescribed the Pedialyte and the pepto bismol. It took about 4 days for it to work and by 6 days all was back to normal.

Sounds like it could be geridia, my dog caught it a few years ago, got some Meds from the vet and no problems since. I also paid under $200 for the whole visit and Meds

At the time I was just worried about the dog because he wouldn't even eat a treat, looking back I should of called around when he said I had a pretty Brittany when I have a setter. The meds they gave him are a treatment for giarda but doesn't seem to help. I'm going to give him sum pepto and see how he poops, other than that he's acting normal. Just feel bad for the little guy.

Where were you hunting? Not for inside info but for geography purposes, alkali ground exists in washington too,the telltale sign is the white on the ground when neither snow or frost exist.

PM me. I'll give you my vet's number. She's about 75% less expensive than anywhere else I've been. Her and her husband have been in business for about 30 years. I might not chose them for a performance related injury but, for general health and breeding stuff- they're awesome and CHEAP!

Located at the top of the hill between Kirkland and Redmond. Forget the road? 124th I think connects?
