I stumbled onto this gun while searching GunBroker for a Savage Striker to use for next years project gun.

What's not to love about a 19" barreled handgun in 300 RUM! The stock is a factory stock which has been camo dipped.

I saw this and instantly knew that I needed it. I mentioned it to a buddy of mine who lives up in Alaska and knows more about Strikers than anybody else I've met. Turns out that this was his gun! He built this using a factory 300 RUM barrel which he sent off to Benchmark Barrels to have them hand lap the bore and then Nitride the barrel. I remembered him talking about how well his 300 RUM shoots, but I just didn't make the connection! He sold it about a year ago to a guy in MS. Then that guy put it up on GunBroker selling it or possibly trading. I shot the seller an email to ask about trading for a Mk4 6.5-20 with the TMR reticle and M1 turrest which I just replaced with an Mk4 8.5-25 with M5 turrets. Turns out that the seller lived here in western WA for a couple of years back around 2002. He was a friend of the guy up in Alaska as well and we had in fact been in contact with each other while working through one of my projects a few years ago. It was one of the small world moments.

The deal worked out on the trade so I'll be getting the gun, hard case and a couple boxes of shells in a few days. I told the guy up on Kodiak Island about it and now he wants to try and buy the barrel back from me. He said it shot so well that he's not sure why he ever sold it. I think he may have to fight me for it now though!
