Walla Walla Chukar question
« on: November 13, 2012, 10:07:55 AM »
Will be in Walla Walla soon and was hoping to spend one day chasing Chucker (and maybe even an errant band of Huns).  Anyone familiar with the area willing to point me in the right direction?  I know the Richland Oregon area is great but hoping to find somewhere a bit closer to Walla Walla.  Not looking for anyones personal spot, just a big area of public land on which my dog and I can go out and get lost.

Happiness is an AA bread English Pointer, a pair of Lowa boots, Wingworks vest and an vast expanse of chukar hills.

I can't tell you much about chuckar but have seen way more huns this year than ever. Lots of feel free land north of town.

I'm not too familiar with Walla Walla, but I have always found chukar in this state and Oregon that share habitats with bighorn sheep.  Find the sheep, find the chukar.

A good dog would help too....

Funny you say that, I've found the same thing (with regards to the sheep).  As for the dog, I've got a master!  Unless anyone has any better ideas, I'll likely head to Asotin and head up hill.

That's what I would have said.  Head towards Clarkston/Lewiston.  I've never seen one around here... :dunno:
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Thanks guys, that's officially the plan now.  Maverick, So envious!!!  Where were you when I was climbing around freeway overpasses and barns while flocks of pigeons were laughing their asses off at my lame attempts at catching them?  Giving the big boy a rest from formal training for most of hunting season but I'll be stalking you come new years if you have some left overs!
