Hair slippage on a tanned cape around the eye
« on: November 13, 2012, 12:40:55 PM »
:bash: Hey guys, Im a somewhat beginner taxidermist. I have done shoulder mounts, euro mounts, and full body birds and turkeys. I recently got a elk cape back from the tannery and around one eye, there was some hair slippage about 6" around the eye, mostly below. Not sure how to fix this during the mounting process? Any suggestions? Anything would help, just not sure how to go about this?? I can take photos if need be, its just in the freezer and would need to thaw it out to take photos...

Some hair slippage or all the hair in a 6" diameter? Pics would help. Depending on how large you might be screwed. If they are smaller spots in longer hair you could cut out and sew. Does hair continue to fall out or is what's there it?
