Akirkland. I believe there is the word Rosie in the word cascade rosie. Cross bread or not they are not the same elk as east. They have big bodies and small antlers.

The definition of rocky or rosie is east or west of the I5.  I was at a Jim Zumbo seminar and he said a rosie can wake up a rosie cross the I5 and be a rocky.  He said it was dumb didn't agree with it but that's the way its written

So here's a real Margaret Bull, not 300 but is it a rosie or mix and what makes you think that?  I do have a pic of one I would guess would go 350 shot w/in 1/2 mile of the main road, but I am having a hard time finding my scanned copy.

If I'm threadjacking too much, please let me know OP.

I drew a MF Toutle permit this year thinking it would be a great way to get my first branched bull after years of trying and dealing with spike only on the east side of the state.  I pretty much knew up front that the majority of bulls taken are smaller bulls with some spikes taken every year, but with a about a 50% success rate, I fooled myself thinking it would be a gimme tag as mentioned above....far from it.  I spent the first 7 days of the season on the south side around Lakeview Peak/Kalama River area going through some pretty thick, steep tree farm ground with a lot of vine maple and other crap thrown in for good measure.  After seeing one small bull on the side of the road driving back to camp opening evening and only about 30 or so assorted other cows and calves, I decided to move camp and head to the north section of mostly State ground to join what I'd been told would be a busy place, but held animals.  The first day I spent sidehilling upstream of Harrington Flats through some more mixed steep, thick, wet brush and saw nothing other than the nice big camp at the bottom of the 5600 road.  I met two of the guys that evening and they had seen two bulls that day and the camp had 5 of 7 tags filled by then,,,pretty good odds I thought.  The next day I spent running around right out of camp off the 4250 and finally ran into a nice looking bull at about 2:00.  Unfortunately, he saw me before I saw him or the screwy wind got him.  Did I mention that the wind was terrible all week.  It seemed like every time I'd take off the wind would change 200 yards into the brush.  When you're by yourself, it's tough to just move around every time, so I just went with it.  On Monday, the wind finally held a little for me and I luckily sneaked into another bull at 2:00 below Signal Peak without him seeing me.  By that point, I was more than ready to take a spike if one gave me the chance.  Here's what I assume is a typical bull from the Toutle unit.  Probably not what most are looking for in a "Quality" tag, but for me, as a better than normal chance at a branched bull elk, my first, I'm very happy.
