No question get the M&P 15-22. It is a great gun. I have a 10/22 as well but the 15-22 is more fun. It has the AR factor but is cheap and shoots anything with no problems. I have over 1500 rounds through mine and haven't had one problem. I like my 10/22 and have put who knows how many thousand rounds through it but have jams way too often.
Everytime we go shooting the 15-22 is the favorite of everyone who shoot it.

You cant go wrong between those two but the 15-22 is the better choice ... :twocents:

10/22 hands down. With the cost of ammo on the 17 and as much as I SHOOT with the 22. If I had a 17 I would be broke! It is way more spendy to feed and the 10/22 is just flat out a gun everyone should own.

agree, if your shooting the cheap stuff in 550 round bricks.

If your shooting premium stuff though the price gap narrows quite a bit.

10/22 you can do anything to it, easy!! If you have a problem Ruger will fix it. .22 LR is a great useful, underrated round.

That is true. I don't use the good stuff like cci 99% of the time. If I am yote hunting and packing the 22 rim then I do use the cci maxi mag. I run the federals and have been super super happy with them.

Bought my son a 10/22 stainless for fun but in particular to use at a local Appleseed shoot.  The trigger was terribly heavy and it doesn't have an auto bolt release.  These are both fixable by yourself if you have a dremel tool and some patience.  We just looked on the internet for all kinds of upgrades for the 10/22 and you can find all kinds of instructional videos on youtube.  We were able to lighten the trigger pull to a target type pull for free and also modify the auto bolt release.  Put a scope on it and we were in business for very little $.  We tried quite a variety of the bulk ammo just to see what grouped the best.  My 18 year old son loves to shoot it over our many other rifles.

My Marlin 60 awesome shooter and accurate. Not as many add ons vs the 10/22. It can be picky though. My wife shoots it cuz she likes the cowboy look of it.  I looked at the mp 15/22 but got a SIG 522 instead. No regrets at all. Never had a problem with any ammo. Super fun to shoot and reliability is thru the roof.

Browning auto.  Ultra reliable, lightweight, and breaks down into two pieces with a just a twist and pull so you can shove it in a backpack.  If you want to accessorize than a 10-22 is the obvious choice.

Another vote for the 10/22. They are fun as hell, you can do everything you want  and more with them. Just stay away from the "ultimate build" section over on rimfirecentral.com they will open you up to all kinds of cool things to do to a 10/22.    I didnt  :chuckle:

10/22 is a great start for a tinkerer.  If you aren't picky and just want to plinking, they work great. mine has maybe 5 original parts.
The TC and Buckmark are great ideas. I love my BM pistol.
Once you buy an Anschutz, you are spoiled, but no autos.
CZ Brno makes a couple of autos that are pretty good.
