Saw a spike running after a doe this afternoon.  Saw 2 nice bucks last sunday while elk hunting and they both had big swollen necks.  I have seen blacktail bucks chasing does off and on all the way until thanksgiving in past years.

  True That!

I WAS ready, have/had plans for the weekend but after badly rolling my ankle yesterday, weekend plans may be on hold. If pain/swelling doesn't subside by the morning Im off to get an x-ray, damn-it! :bash: Oh well, still have until the end of the year with my MS tag but really wanted to hunt this weekend. Might have to go back and read those tips on road hunting. :chuckle:

You can't get an xray at daylight so you may as well hit it in the morning.

Oh man I'm SO ready.  My dad said he had a 3pt buck following him yesterday! So I think they are starting rut (Zack). Its a couple of good hard cold freezing  nights that Really helps.

Bucks are active, but WOW there were a lot of people out this morning.  I am glad I didnt take the time off.  There were more hunters out this morning than any other day I have seen this season.  My busy schedule is not allowing me to hunt extended buck  :bash: but I dont feel so bad now.  I would rather go out with my bow durning ML season then fight the crowds I saw this morning.  At least 2 cars at all the good gates between my home and work, and these roads dont have miles and miles of hunting behind them.  I wouldnt hunt these spots if there was another hunter there.

Just got home with J9`s deer, a small fork, her first. Lots of deer dying out there today, saw about 10 does and fawns in the clearcuts before I spotted her buck in the trees. First corner we came around at daylight, witnessed a gun poke out of the door and boom, still lots of shooting as we were leaving.
