I was thinking of hanging a bag of chopped apples in a tree to keep a scent trail there even when the deer had eaten the apples I put out.

:hello: Good idea... My husband likes the really ripe apples and smears them on the ground with his boot.

Apple attractant sounds like a good idea as well... I read somewhere that vanilla is also a good attractant and maybe cedar... :dunno:

My neighbor cut a cedar down and every piece of green within reach got eaten.  They also love to eat any alder leaves that come down with branches.  I have an alder I want down and will probably do it this weekend for my hunters and before the leaves die off anyways.  Another scent that might attract is dirt, they seem to like to have dance parties in freshly turned dirt.

Yes i do HawgDawg but she aint like me.

Where my dad and I hunt, (which is where nobody else is) I talked to him about bringing some apples out, he said its not a good idea. That he tried it and it just seemed to scare them away. Being there is no Orchards for about 3-5 miles.
But I did get to rattle yesterday and didn't have any luck. Lol, I felt silly at first but i got over it when I separated from my dad. I did not even see a doe yesterday. :(

I did take some pics of what I posted in the cougar section on this site, what i thought was a cougar scratchin' tree.  I'll try to post some there.
And one more of some other area we were in yesterday.
