My Montana hunt

Me and my buddy Tom (a hw member) drew landowner tags for eastern mt on my grandpas ranch.  We almost called it off because a huge fire ravaged the area in late august.  My grandpa insisted there were plenty of deer around so we decided to go.  It was 5 below zero monday our first day, the deer werent in their normal places but tom was able to shoot a nice 5x5.  The next day i passed up several nice deer before i settled on this nice 5x5.

His antlers are charcoal black from rubbing on all the burnt trees, should make a cool european mount.

Nice deer.  How wide was it?  I only ask cause it looks really close to the one I have my eye on for my late muzzy hunt here in a week.

He is 24 inches wide, not a trophy but decent for a burn area

I don't know...24 inches would be a trophy to me.  My biggest is a 20" basket rack 4x4.  I love the dark horns and he would be a wall hanger for me.  Congrats again.  I love seeing bucks like this.
