Dad's stud whitetail (crazy story added)
« on: November 18, 2012, 08:30:12 AM »
Here's my dad's stud he got earlier this week from the NE corner.

I thought I would add the story to this. The actual kill isn't all that great but the story after is nuts. My old man was hunting a different area then my buddy and I (about 5 miles apart). We were coming out at last light when we got a call on the radio that my dad had a buck down and he needed help getting it out. We were stoked so we humped it off the hill and made our way back towards my rig. A few minutes before we got back we got a call on the radio that my dad had wrecked his Tahoe. I thought he was pulling our leg but when we got back we saw his rig in the ditch by where I was parked. He was so excited about his buck that when he was coming back to meet us, he got in a hurry backing in the little turnout we were  parked and slid off into the ditch and up against a few trees. There were cars behind him so he rushed pulling in a bit and BAM, Tahoe meet tree.  :bash: It ended up breaking out his side door window, messed up the door and the rear quarter panel. I ended up pulling him out and we decided to leave it parked there while we took my ride back up to get his buck out. We got up to where he had drug it close to the road and I left my car parked in the middle of the road. It was pitch black and kind of late and I figured nobody would be driving the forest roads that late but I left my flashers on to be safe. We gut his deer, took the photos etc and got it all loaded up. We jumped in to head back to town and *click* dead battery!  :yike: I couldn't believe it. My dad ended up hoofing it the 5 miles back to his tahoe to come back up. Lucky for us, we had two sets of jumpers because I was in the road and he couldn't get pulled up in front of me. We got my ride jumped and finally headed back to town about 10:30. I was shocked at how fast my Dad got back to his Tahoe and back up to us. I was impressed! Talk about a crazy night but what a buck!

We just got home last night so I will get some better pictures downloaded because the first two don't really do it justice.
