camera bag or backpack?
« on: November 23, 2012, 12:31:35 PM »
So what do you use a bag or backpack? I need to get a bigger bag but am looking at camera packs as well. I already have a pack for hiking and overnights so thinking a nice camera bag would work better. Mines too small so looking to upgrade.

Oh and this is for a 60d with 2 lenses. A 17-55 2.8 is and a 55-250 is (hopefully upgrading this one soon) and room for more later.

I bought a daypack-type bag for my excess gear, and love it!  I have to go through it once in a while to get rid of stuff I put in it that I don't need.  I'll fall over backwards if I dont.  :chuckle: For camera gear that you want to get at in a hurry, a camera bag might be better, but they aren't made to carry very far.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

I use a shoulder bag when shooting sports.  Mostly not switching lens, mostly packs cards, and batteries.

I use a backpack when out in the woods.

I use a Backpack mostly when I'm out taking wildlife photos, but when I'm in town or at my Kids houses I have a couple of Hard Cases that I use. I was lucky enough to get my hands on some Spotting Scope Cases that work awesome for camera gear. :)

I want to get a backpack but the ones I have seen for cameras dont have much else except for storage for the camera gear. I'd like more room for the other stuff I bring on day hikes. Any recomendations on brands?  I think for around town and family stuff a shoulder bag will work fine.

Those holsters for cameras look prett cool but more crap to carry  :chuckle:. I already carry more than I need on a day hike.

I just use my hunting pack.   Generally if I am in the stuff, I want some bare essentials too, and the extra coat or whatever helps fill the spaces around the lens.

I use a backpack http://www.clikelitestore.com/product_p/ce513bk.htm

Lots of room for camera gear and dayhike essentials.
