Touch screen Rinos
« on: November 18, 2012, 06:34:46 PM »
Anybody have feedback on the touchscreen models?  Easier to use than the toggle?  Water issues?  Looking at the 610.  Thanks

I have the older model with the toggle and borrowed the touchscreen model from a buddy for our last hunt and I like the touchscreen version. Pretty easy to use and the screen seems easier to read.

This is all new to me but the wife says she would feel better if I had one.  What is the difference between the 610 and 530hcx?  The 530 is $200 more.  I would figure a touch screen would cost more :dunno:

I am not sure exactly what all is different. I do know that having the mapping as well as the radio is pretty nice. I know it has helped get me back to the truck a few times!

The touch screen isn't bad but I would prefer a toggle sometimes if I'm using it to look around a bigger area. It's kind of a pain to pan with the maps having to slide it all around instead of the toggle but other than that I like it a lot. Not to mention the varying colors make it easier to see what that line means.

I have the 655T - Love it! No issues.

I just got the 650 last week and played around with it for a few hours.  Other than being very large, everything about it seems better than the 110 I was using before.

I have two 650s.  It probably goes without saying that if you plan on just having one Rino in your hunting party then there are better options. The obvious selling point of Rinos is their ability to transmit voice and coordinates from one Rino unit to another.

I have had no quality issues with my 650s. The rechargeable battery pack they come with make them quite heavy: around 12 ounces. The touch screen is fine; not necessarily better than a toggle or keypad model, but not worse in any way. I've used it with gloves.

655 here and I love it.  No problems but scrolling the maps would be easier with a toggle.  These things are amazing and smarter than I.  Still learning new stuff with it.  610 I think has less power/radio and battery life and less memory.  Not sure if it takes sd cards.  Oh and no camera which I am really starting to like having!  I wish more of my group would get a rino radio at least!
MAGA!  Again..

Those are the big differences in the 610 vs the 650/655

lower range on the radio
no memory card ability

The 610 uses AA batteries, but the 650/655 can do that too if you order the battery adapter pack for it ($30)

We have two 655t's and bought a huntwa maps card for them online. This card shows us every boundary for DNR, State, Private (including the name of the owner), timber company, and all other chunks of land. It is a great tool for getting into areas that not everyone can see are public hunting.
