3 Species, one season
« on: November 20, 2012, 06:56:12 PM »
I was fortunate this year to draw an Oregon Mule deer tag, went on that hunt and ended up with a cool lil buck that I'm happy with.  Came back home to hunt Blacktail in my local area, and ended up with a decent buck for back home.  Had two weeks off for Elk from work to hunt my permIt and thanks to a ton of help from some great people off HuntWa I got my bull the first three days.  So with some time and funds left I thought it would be cool to get after a Whitetail.  I've never hunted Whitetail before so was clueless where to start.  Once again with the help of a great person here off HuntWa, he put me right in the spot.  I was able to get over to Idaho and get it done in the time I had.  Best season I have ever had with fun times and success, and already thanked the guys who helped me, but can't say it enough.
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

Can't thank you enough Jeff.  I still can't believe it worked out like it did, you're a heck of a guy, not to many out there that'll help like you did.

It's easy to shoot all three in a season when you shoot dinks.  Just kidding Ty, I'm jealous! Great job!

Here is a couple pics of the bull.  Got a little excited catching this young Bull running in the timber and took the shot, but very happy to put my tag on one.

That BT is more than 'decent' and WTG on all those animals!  I would LOVE to have a season like that... but can't seem to find the time... or the energy... or the funds.... or the hunting skill.... or the good fortune..... aside from that, maybe someday for me?  BRAVO!

Thank you all for the comments, the best hunt is yet to come when I get to take my daughter on her late Cow hunt and help her take her first Elk.  The wife drew late cow too, so more freezer space is a must.
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.
