Why cell phone pics?
« on: November 21, 2012, 09:59:38 PM »
I understand the cell phone pics but wonder with the small size and relatively low cost of a decent digital why more people don't seem to carry them for their harvest pictures or other field pictures?

Not everyone carries a camera around, but nearly everyone has a cellphone.  My latest Tracfone has a camera in it, but I've never used it.  It's probably a better camera than the Nikon I paid almost $500 for about 8 years ago....
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

Too poor for a low cost camera AND a cell phone.

My cell phone camera is 8 mp...  for a few ATL shots, why not?   and I do not have to carry a camera too...
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

I do.  I don't own a smartphone.  I have a small Nikon that fits perfect in my backpack waistbelt pocket.

My camera went on the fritz the day I got my buck this year, so my phone was my back up for field pics.

I just recently purchased a waterproof digital camera. It's the one my elk field photos were taken with. I try to carry both but to be honest I've often forgot one ore both of them? I get to deep into thinking about my hunt. So if I only remember one I dance with who I brought...

Before I went to Africa last year I was wondering about a camera to take as a pocket cam along with my Cannon Rebel with a mondo zoom.  I came across or saw an interview with Annie Libovitz, world renowned photog.  http://www.tuaw.com/2011/11/16/photographer-annie-leibovitz-recommends-iphone-as-a-camera/

I took her advice and got some great pics with my iPhone 4S.  It allowed me to have my buddy get me in shots I couldn't have gotten with my Rebel as easily.

I forgot that the newer phones have some decent cameras on them, mine is like 3 years old....  OK, then why do people apologize all the time then?   :chuckle:  Nice photos above.

I would have to agree with you whenever I see a beautiful animal taken, and then the ATL photo is shot with a sub-par flip phone camera. At the same time though... now that I have a good 5mp camera on my iPhone, I usually just carry that over my point and shoot. Its smaller, lighter, more compact, and with how good coverage is these days; I have the ability to call a buddy to help pack out when I'm 4 miles deep unlike my cannon.

Always have my cell phone on me when I hunt.  Can't argue with pics like this!

The new cameras in cell phones aren't like the old.  I'm starting to leave my high quality point and shoot in the truck.  I think a lot of folks would be surprised how many pics these days are from a cell phone, that they'd never guess were. :twocents:
