Why cell phone pics?

The new cameras in cell phones aren't like the old.  I'm starting to leave my high quality point and shoot in the truck.  I think a lot of folks would be surprised how many pics these days are from a cell phone, that they'd never guess were.

 I'm one of the few that don't have a phone , I carry a camera, but it's kind of hard to send a mass text as they lay with a kodak, but then again the text attachments I recieve from my buddies useualy suck

I forgot that the newer phones have some decent cameras on them, mine is like 3 years old....  OK, then why do people apologize all the time then?     Nice photos above.

I understand the cell phone pics but wonder with the small size and relatively low cost of a decent digital why more people don't seem to carry them for their harvest pictures or other field pictures?
