Bear hunting in okanogan
« on: November 22, 2012, 09:08:27 PM »
New to this site but was just wondering what some people think about black bear hunting somewhere new winthrop or twisp?  I plan on going up there next bear season and hiking deep into the woods and camping out for a week or two.  Just wondering what people thought about black bear hunting over there and how good it is.  Or good places to hike and camp.

Well I saw a real nice chocolate from the road. It ran so fast that it couldn't stop and was flattened right up against someones barn  :yike: ;)

I saw one running across a forest road while I was heading up for a hike near Mazama not too far from town. They're out there, getting out on foot away from people always is a good bet. West side is great too. Good luck.

I have hunted that area for 20 years and there are bear around every year. Try lookout mt. Area and Little Bridge Creek. Those two aReas could keep you busy for years. Also Newby Creek.

The area over here is void of bears don't bother coming this way. Also the deer population has dwindled so bad that only see an occasional spike before it gets killed by a westsider coming over here to smell the flowers and hug the bunnies

There's forsure not a void of bears over there.  I have buddies that hunt every year and always get some.  When I've been over there camping I see them a decent amount.

Depending on the time of year, could be awful hot over there, so be prepared to keep the meat/hide cool as possible. Best of luck!

Kind of funny how your first post is asking for advice about bear hunting near Twisp then saying you see tons of bear over there. Seems like if you see tons of bear it's not rocket science from there.

I was just looking for some new places to check out.  It gets boring hunting the same place every year.

Maybe he wants to hunt where it doesn't constantly rain.

I know that's why I like going to the eastside of the state.
