My Buckrun Buck
« on: November 23, 2012, 04:54:57 PM »
I know this was posted in another thread but just got some better pics of it and wanted to share. It is my best buck to date.  I was lucky to draw 1 of 10 raffle permits for Buckrun whick is over between Stratford and Wilson creek. I had Michael Fox helping me on my hunt. I was given a large area to hunt so we decided to glass for a few hours to see what was running around, there were a lot of deer to glass but not many mature bucks in the area  :bash: We decided after a couple hours glassing to hike to some upper areas of the property and Michael spotted a buck 780 yrds away bedded across a large draw and we could not get any closer so we backed out and circled way around and above him and just kept inching closer and closer until he jumped up about 120 yrds away and 1 shot from my 270 WSM and he was down.I am sure there are bigger bucks running around over there but feel I got the best one I could considering it is a 1 day hunt.

Were there additional fees, beyond the normal WDFW licensing, for the hunt once drawn?  I really don't know what to believe anymore.

Beauty.  That's bigger than anything I have ever shot at.

Edit: There's a 5 point thread somewhere going on right now that needs one of your picks.  I like the one on the bottom.

No additional fees. On a side note, The land owner Derek Stevens is very friendly, some think he is an a$$ but I think if I owned the land I would be pretty protective of it....I don't want to start a pi$$ing match so I will leave it alone  :twocents:

Where did you hit him?  Need the dirty details for closure purposes.  I don't want to spend all night thinking about this. :bash:

He was quartering to the right, hit him behind the last rib and the bullet exited just in front of his left shoulder
