Your spot on about the permit however they do keep that gate locked and unattended outside of the general hunt seasons. Good on IEP that they pay a guy to monitor the gate during general hunt seasons to let people in and out by vehicle, unlike Hancock that is not hunter freindly and tends to "lock down" much of their land. As Hancock continues to buy weyerhauser property we continue to get shut out most of the time. He could walk in off Thompson but it would be a long walk.
looking at my maps, thers some dnr/stateland just se of the intersection of blanchard creek rd and blanchard rd. Lots of moose in that area, definetly worth checking out.
