3nails & kids deer season 2012
« on: November 24, 2012, 05:43:17 PM »
Praise the Lord we filled 4 WA tags and 2 MT tags. We started off our season with my son filling his second deer tag first, his fifth deer. I tagged out first on our blacktails with a nice 2 pt I got with my daughter. It was the first deer I had got with her which was a great hunt. The next morning she tagged out with a unique buck. She decided to call it a 3x3 with eyeguards with an in-line point between the G2 and G3. :chuckle: With one day left in the season, and me having to work, the boy talked mom into driving him to one of our hunting areas and dropping him off. It was the first time he had ever hunted solo and he got a one antlered spike. A trophy in his eyes. (mine too) We then left for Montana to have a family hunt at our cabin. I rattled in a nice 4x4 that my daughter made a great shot on, her biggest to date. A couple days later I rattled in a big 4x4 that I passed on. Later that day I really wished I had taken him due to the fact that I had both kids with me. Two days later with them with me again I shot a modest 4x4. It was the smallest whitetail I'd shot in a long time but glad I did for the memories. It was a great day! I didn't get to put in the time by myself looking for the big one this year but probably had a better time hunting with my kids anyways! I'm very thankful for all the time with them this year. My son didn't have a MT tag this year ($) but will next year, Lord willing.

When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.
