I have a shorthair and he is a great dog but can not handle cold weather for duck and goose hunting

have you been spying on my dog  :chuckle:. I have no choice but have him be a inside dog due to not having a yard or garage.

Did not know we had anyone from Enumclaw here.......   :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Thank you everyone for all the suggestions, I will definitely take them all into consideration before I make a choice. Don't want the dog to go to waste!

Our GSP is 10 years old,  so I would also consider a GWP.  My hunting partner has one from North Dakota and she's a bird hunting machine and tends to range well for the foot hunter.  Our GSP likes to get out there and you have to stay in control!

RC3 I never personally met Barry but was told by a friend that he was a wirehair guy.
My dog got killed.
My buddy says call this Barry guy he has Wirehairs. I should say my buddy has only ever had labs, which completely explains why I had an hour long conversation with a guy Barry turned me on to about dogs. The guy had a short hair litter. I thought we were talking Wirehairs and he thought we were talking Shorthairs.
We both hung up confused.

So, RC3, 6 years later on this little thread you have explained why I had a useless one hour conversation with a shorthair guy in Or.
Thanks man.
