Nice day Saturday
« on: December 04, 2012, 06:23:47 AM »
I'm a waterfowl nube and do not see myself in the same light as many here who hunt ducks. I've spent all my time hunting upland. When the price of gas went up I wanted to keep hunting. I have been trying to gear up for ducks and learn wing shooting on birds that are not 15 yards pointed pheasants. Forget calling. All the posts about the kazoo guys? Well that's me. I still shoot okay and manage to take a few birds. Saturday was a little different. I had two land in my decoys and not much action on the ducks. Then after watching flight after flight of Canada geese I had a small group fly over me. I took my time and aimed for a head shot on the first bird. Downed! Looked to see if I needed to use a second on him. Nope, looked for second bird. Took my time aimed for a head shot downed number two. This was a dream. :) I have not hit many doubles and with a pump instead of a O/U I was happy with two. My Nova pump has saved me gas money and paid for itself in Western Washington hunting versus Eastern Washington trips. I felt underpowered with number 2 steel shot-(blackclouds). Feeling more confident with the steel shot now!

Nice haul you got there,  alot more meat than you would get off a pair of roosters.
