Leopuld custom dial?
«
on:
November 27, 2012, 09:20:20 PM »
I have a VX2 4x12x50 and want to get the custom dial put on, for I bought the scope just before the new model came with it. Do I have to send the whole scope in to have the dial put on or will they send me the parts. Approximately how much do they charge.
thanks for any hope

You can buy your own dial off the computer I bought a couple from cabelas but I also have sent my scope to them to have it done but can;t remember how much.

You do not need to send them the scope if you can replace the existing adjustment dials yourself. The newer CDS scopes are designed for a user to easily replace the dials. I suggest you call Leupold and talk it over with them.

the website says
If the scope in question does not currently have tall, finger-adjustable adjustments (target style, M1, M2, or M3) currently installed, the scope will need to be sent to the Custom Shop for this addition
I don't know if that means my scope or not
I usually use a coin to adjust now but it is easy enough to use my finger nail.
I have never had a cds on the scope
any thoughts
thanks
i will probably contact them soon

You probably need to send it in. Give them a call. Turnaround time should be short this time of year.

I think I will probably do it around February so that gives me time to make sure I put the right load in for the dail.
Shooting a 300wsm and just got it this year so I want a perfect load. Am happy with the gun so far with accuracy just want to see if I can get it going a little quicker for my hand loads. I have had good accuracy going 2900 with 165gr. bullets but I would like to see at least 3000fps out of that size bullet.
the gun has a 23 inch barrel to so I loose a little speed cause of that, but I have had speeds up to 3100 out of the gun they just haven't been as accurate. A little more testing and I will be ready to go.

I have done it with my VXII 4-12. You have to send the entire scope and they put the new turret in for about $80. You can then do all your sighting in and will need to send them your info, FPS, bullet weight, average temp, altitude etc, and they will build you a dial to go over the turret and they cost about $60. Sounds complicated but it's not and they work amazingly well. You won't be disappointed.
