Gun advice?
«

Finally saved enough to pick up a new shotgun - moving from the Benelli Nova pump to a semi-auto.
Here's the thing - I was going to get a Benelli SBE2, but now I'm hearing really good things about the SX3... Any of you guys have any opinions about the SBE2 vs. SX3?

Like my sbe2 but with how dirty and wet a duck blind gets causes it to have bad days. Now only use it in the coffin blinds.

Not sure if you are set on those two, but take a look at stoeger. I've had one for 2 or 3 years and have put around 3 or 4 cases of shells through it duck hunting with no errors. I'm not religious about keeping it clean and it often has dirt and mud on it (as often happens duck hunting).

Myself and three other buddies have been shooting the Extrema for several years. I personally have had mine for about eight years. Never had a problem.

Had major issues with an 2 different 11-87 Super Mags, so I bought the Winchester SX3 last season. Best shooting shotgun I have now, it was used in coffin blinds and out in the duck blinds. No trouble in any condition it has been put in. Now I have both an SX2 and the SX3, the SX2 is my loaner gun for family when we are hunting now.

do you want the best?
or just something that'll be good enough?
John Browning invented the Semi-Auto shotgun.
And in my opinion, Browning still makes the absolutely best shotguns you can own.
The Browning Maxus is what you should get.
Best in the world.
Very soft recoil, shoots anything you want without changes to settings or barrels. 3 1/2" mags or trap loads.
Check out their web site.
http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/family.asp?webflag_=024B
You thinking about the SX3?
Well stop. Winchester USED to be an amazing company. Not so anymore. The SX3 is too light. I've seen it and shot it. Very difficult second shot because the muzzle rises so much, it takes your eye off target.
Benelli makes a good product, but they are a bitch to take apart and clean.
Just my 2 cents.... spend a little extra, and get the best.

I shoot a Maxus. It is ultra reliable, cycles everything I put in it, goes bang every time I pull the trigger and birds usually fall.
A friend of mine shoots a SBEII. It usually goes bang but sometimes it goes click, click instead. Other than that it is a fine gun too.

I have both SX3 and SBE and I like them both. To the guy that was talking up the Browning- The Browning and SX3 are both made at the same factory in Belgium! The SX3 is the fastest cycling auto loader you can buy. There is a video of a guy that shoots clay targets so fast it sounds like one big boom. 12 targets in 1.4 seconds! Check this out on You tube-

Who cares how fast you can cycle the gun when you're hunting. Its not like its a competition to shoot the fastest.
Its a competition to connect with every shot.... well you guys know what I mean. lol
I love winchester, but I'm just saying that side by side, between the sx3 and the maxus, the sx3 takes longer to kill birds simply because when you squeez the trigger, the bird disappears under the barrel. That is if you missed.... And we all miss, sometimes. And I feel that a fraction of a second can make or break whether or not you get to shoot at the Duck again.
