Long Binocular strap
« on: September 07, 2008, 09:07:25 AM »
Ok, I tried one of those harness things that hold the glasses close to your chest and HATE it. The normal starps are too short. I want a strap that lets the binos hang down at my hip pocket level when slung around my neck and left arm. Anybody ever seen one? or do I ahve to make one?
thanks
Carl

Go to a sporting goods store and pick up some sleeping bag straps. I have used this strap material for various over the neck straps for projects in the past... I prefer to simply stitch the strap to the custom length I like, and forget the adjustment buckle...less noise...

I think REI still sells it by the foot. The fabric stores I checked, had a "too-light" duty version I did not like...

Thanks Iceman thats a good idea. I am thinking of trying to flat braid some parachute cord. but the straps idea is much easier.

KillBilly sent me a pm to call him. I did and he advised my about Mad Dog Gear bino holders. I found them on line, it looks really cool. Made by the Stearn Co. the harness hangs lower on your chest and the binos are in a protective bag. I am going to see if Sportsmans warehouse has them.
thanks a ton Al!!!

sportsmans sells a side mount bino system that straps around your shoulders. I use it for my rangefinder. then of course they sell a strait up system that keeps them up in your chest area. they are both very adjustable and very lightweight and comfortable.

my straps have neopreem around the neck area, doesnt cut into to me at all,and can adjust to my waist.I like them to hang on my chest and I can zip them in my coat or vest,or just tuck them in.

Do you need to worry that the binoculars will bounce around with a long strap? I don't have any experience, just want to know anyone has any experience.
