Barrel Blueing
« on: November 29, 2012, 12:27:30 PM »
Anyone know of anybody in the king county area that blues or dips shotgun barrel. I have an over under that needs to be done after 12 years of hard hunting.

Thanks

I know someone in Winlock that does blueing.. that may be a bit to far south for you though.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

You can not "Blue" a stainless barrel.. bluing is a controlled rusting process.. stainless will not rust.

THAT SAID, you can duracoat, ceracoat, or flat spray paint your barrel.. or you can have it hydroprinted, one of our sponsors here does that NW Hydroprint.

Or you can have the stainless bead blasted to dull the finish so it is a matte instead of a shiny finish.

I had a barrel and action "Teflon" coated several years back on an old ruger number 1 of mine. No idea how different that process is than some of the ones Huntbear suggested, but it turned out pretty sweet. I believe that's the coating my weatherby mark v's have on them, and they are stainless.

I have had 6 rifles coated over the years by W.E Birdsong Inc in "Black-T"

http://www.black-t.com/

Great stuff!! He does allot of coating for our military's special operations operators. The stuff is great in saltwater and self lubbing so it great also for the internals of semi-Autos and full-Autos. Runs about the same as Cerakote.
